30 years protecting the world's
most critical infrastructure.
Power Intelligence was founded on a simple premise: the most important infrastructure in the world deserves better than periodic manual inspections. Born from DOD-grade engineering discipline and three decades of utility industry experience, we built the persistent thermal monitoring platform that mission-critical operators have needed for years.
Built from the inside out
Power Intelligence was built by people who spent careers inside utilities, defense installations, and industrial facilities — and saw firsthand what periodic inspections miss. We didn't set out to build a technology company. We set out to solve a problem we knew was costing the industry billions.
The core insight was simple but powerful: thermal energy tells the truth. Every electrical fault — every failing connection, degrading insulation, or overloaded circuit — announces itself as heat before it announces itself as a failure. The question was whether anyone was listening.
Our answer was Persistent Far-Field Thermography: permanently-installed radiometric cameras that watch continuously, from safe distances, producing data streams that our patented Sigma Delta Tau analytics can evaluate 24 hours a day. Not snapshots. Not scheduled inspections. Continuous intelligence.
Power Intelligence's engineering discipline and reliability standards trace directly to DOD infrastructure environments — where the cost of failure is measured not in dollars, but in national security. That culture of zero tolerance for undetected failure is embedded in everything we build.
Power Intelligence operates from North Carolina, serving clients across the United States — from nuclear generation facilities and major airports to the world's largest data centers and most storied sports venues.
Three decades of innovation
Founded on utility expertise
Power Intelligence is established by engineers with deep roots in U.S. utility operations and DOD infrastructure. Initial work focuses on manual thermal inspection services and training.
Automated monitoring development begins
Recognizing the limits of periodic manual inspection, PI begins R&D on persistent automated thermal monitoring. The core problem: how to eliminate operator dependency from thermal analysis.
Sigma Delta Tau algorithm patented
PI files and receives patents on the SDT algorithm — applying differential calculus to thermal time-series data to produce fault-predictive health scores independent of weather, load, and environmental conditions.
Product suite expands
The Neuron field data collector, PowerIntel analytics platform, PowerShot ballistic detection, and PowerVault underground monitoring are developed and deployed across substations, airports, and nuclear facilities.
Hartsfield-Jackson deployment
Power Intelligence is engaged by Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport — the world's busiest airport. PI's monitoring identifies a developing fault condition representing $50M in potential damages before any failure occurs.
Georgia Power partnership
Georgia Power selects Power Intelligence for automated infrared monitoring at Mercedes-Benz Stadium — one of the most prominent sports and entertainment venues in the country, serving 75,000 attendees per event.
ScanIR and PoleVault platforms
ScanIR persistent camera systems and PoleVault rapid-deployment monitoring bring PFFT capability to new deployment contexts — including rapid-response post-incident assessment and remote site monitoring.
The Neuron enters data centers
Power Intelligence extends its proven platform to hyperscale and colocation data centers — where AI workloads are pushing power density to 10-30kW/rack and making thermal monitoring more critical than ever.
Patented. Proven. Purpose-built.
Every product in the Power Intelligence portfolio is built on the same core intellectual property — decades of development that cannot be replicated with off-the-shelf thermal cameras and general-purpose analytics software.
Sigma Delta Tau (SDT) Algorithm
Patented differential calculus applied to thermal time-series. Σ (standard deviation among measurement group), Δ (magnitude of change), and τ (rate-of-change) produce a composite health score that is independent of weather, load, and environmental variation — eliminating false alarms and detecting real faults 10–14 weeks earlier than threshold-based systems.
Persistent Far-Field Thermography (PFFT)
Permanently-installed radiometric cameras operating continuously from up to 200 feet — outside the arc flash and safety boundaries of energized equipment. Every pixel contains a calibrated temperature measurement, not just a visual image. Data streams continuously to the Neuron and PowerIntel for analysis.
PowerIntel — Adaptive Baseline Analytics
PowerIntel builds adaptive thermal baselines for every measurement point across every asset under management — accounting for seasonal variation, load cycles, and local environmental factors. Alerts are generated only when SDT scores deviate meaningfully from the established baseline, not when temperatures exceed arbitrary thresholds.
The Neuron Field Data Collector
Purpose-built field hardware that aggregates thermal, electrical, environmental, and process sensor data into a single synchronized stream. Quad-core ARM processor, multi-path communications (4G LTE, dual Wi-Fi, Ethernet), 1TB local storage, and support for every major industrial protocol — from Modbus and SCADA to OPC and IEC-61850.
What drives every decision we make
Zero-tolerance for missed faults
Every product decision we make is evaluated against one question: does this help operators detect faults earlier and more reliably? We don't add features that don't serve that mission.
Engineering discipline first
Our roots are in DOD and nuclear environments — where the engineering must be right before anything else matters. We bring that rigor to every deployment, regardless of industry.
True partnership
We don't ship software and move on. Every Power Intelligence deployment includes engineering design, installation oversight, and ongoing support — because your reliability is our reputation.
